Compushift Quick Install Guide
- Please read the owners manual that comes with each unit.
- Mount the control box under the seat or dashboard. Do not mount near any heat source, must have
free airflow around unit.
- Run wire looms to appropriate locations, all the wires are labeled.
- Make good power and ground power connections.
- Install Acculink TPS system, or other TPS control.
- Calibrate the TPS. THIS IS A MUST DO
- With the engine off, turn on the ignition, wait 5 seconds then push calibration button on control box. Stroke
throttle to floor and back to idle, you have 5 seconds to do this. Wait
another 5 seconds then stroke again and check for codes. The choke must
be open or the engine must be at normal operating temperature to
correctly calibrate the TPS. If you have trouble read TPS calibration procedure in the owners manual. IF you have a display TPS cal can be done in the setup mode from the display.
- IF THE TPS IS NOT CALIBRATED YOUR SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY
- WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU CHECK LINE PRESSURE IN YOUR TRANSMISSION. THIS WILL CONFIRM CORRECT TPS CALIBRATION.
- WITH THE ENGINE OFF: GM TRANSMISSIONS WILL BUZZ AT IDLE, THE BUZZ WILL STOP AS THROTTLE IS OPENED, FORD’S WILL NOT BUZZ
- WITH ENGINE RUNNING: NORMAL PRESSURE AT IDLE IS 65 TO 85 PSI AND WILL INCREASE WITH INCREASED THROTTLE
- Recheck all wires and routing for safety, keep wires away from exhaust and sharp parts that could
cut wires.
- It’s time to road test. Shifts should be early and soft at light throttle and get later and firmer as the throttle is opened.
- Shift speed and shift feel are adjustable on the control box or with the display.
- Your transmission should work and feel just like it would in the type of vehicle it came out of.
- If you have problems you can’t solve, read your owners manual, then contact your dealer. If you still can’t solve the problems contact the factory.
